Victoria Laboratories Limited was proud to participate in the ADLM 2026 Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo in Anaheim, California, reaffirming its commitment to laboratory excellence, patient-centred care and the continuous advancement of healthcare services across the Caribbean.
Representing Victoria Laboratories, Laboratory Supervisor Vasha presented a research poster entitled, “An Investigation into the Quality Management Systems within Medical Laboratories in the UK and the Challenges of Error Detection for the Period 2022 – 2025.” The research examined critical aspects of quality management systems, risk-based thinking and the ongoing challenge of detecting and preventing errors within medical laboratories.
The presentation attracted interest from healthcare and laboratory professionals from a wide range of institutions and countries. It fostered meaningful discussion on practical approaches to strengthening quality systems and improving patient safety. Among the professionals who engaged with the research were Dr. Christopher Crutchfield, Scientific Director at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare Corporation in Chicago, Illinois, and Ogochukwu Ugwunna, M.Sc., B.MLS, ASCP, MLSCN, Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu State, Nigeria.
For Victoria Laboratories, participation in ADLM was more than an opportunity to share research – it was an opportunity to learn, connect and bring global perspectives back home. As healthcare systems around the world continue to face evolving challenges, the meeting provided valuable exposure to emerging technologies, quality-management strategies and internationally recognised best practices that can support stronger laboratory services and better patient outcomes.
Reflecting on the experience, Vasha noted that one of the most valuable aspects of the event was the opportunity to exchange ideas with laboratory professionals from around the world.
“Despite differences in demographics, resources and geographical location, many of the challenges we face in healthcare and laboratory medicine are very similar,” she shared. “It highlighted how much we can learn from one another through the sharing of experiences, knowledge and different approaches to solving common problems.”
Vasha added that the experience reinforced the importance of remaining connected to the wider international laboratory community.
“There are many valuable lessons and innovations internationally that can be adapted to our Caribbean setting,” she said. “By bringing those conversations and insights back home, we can continue improving the quality of laboratory services and the patient-centred care we provide.”
