An ISO 15189 certified Laboratory

ISO 15189 Medical laboratories — The standard was developed by the International Organisation for Standardisations's Technical Committee 212 (ISO/TC 212). ISO/TC 212 assigned ISO 15189 to a working group to prepare the standard based on the details of ISO/IEC 17025:1999 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. This working group included provision of advice to users of the laboratory service, the collection of patient samples, the interpretation of test results, acceptable turnaround times, how testing is to be provided in a medical emergency and the lab's role in the education and training of health care staff
Fasting for a Sugar Blood test

If your doctor orders a fasting blood test, you should not have anything to eat or drink- 12 hours before your blood test. Some examples of fasting blood tests are- fasting glucose, triglycerides, lipids and glucose tolerance. For a glucose tolerance test, you will need to stay in the laboratory for 1-2hrs (depending on the test your doctor ordered), so you may want to bring a something to read and a snack so you can eat something immediately after the test. Here are answers to some commonly asked questions about fasting. Can I drink water? Yes, you may drink small amounts of water. Should I take my medication? Yes, you should take any medication which has been prescribed to you by your doctor unless your doctor tells you not to. Can I drink juice? No.Can I drink coffee or tea? No. Can I chew gum? No. Can I smoke? No. Smoking can affect your test results. Can I exercise? No. Exercise can affect your test results.

Please feel free to ask questions if you do not understand. If the person taking your blood had trouble the last time, please tell the technician. Our staff are trained and will do their best to make your appointment run smoothly. We follow strict safety guidelines- Needles, tubes, and holders are only used once and discarded.
